The Peace Creeps Information
Richard Bush, the charismatic lead singer of the old A's, is currently working on a musical project called The Peace Creeps. For more than 20 years, The Peace Creeps have been a mainstay in Philadelphia. Three albums by The A's were released between 1979 and 1982. Bush and his A's scored the singles "After Last Night" and "A Woman's Got the Power," later covered by Clarence Clemons and Jennifer Holliday, and were the favorite band in Philly in the 1970s and early 1980s. Art Garfunkle also performed the song. The rendition by Halliday peaked at #1 on the BB Dance Chart.
They performed nationwide tours and put out two albums on Arista Records before breaking up over disagreements with the label. Following that, Bush played in a few additional bands before taking a lengthy break to write and record.
The Peace Creeps were eventually formed by guitarist John Marchiano, bassist Roy Fisher, and drummer Jeff Pancoast. Reasons for their appeal include Bush and songwriting collaborator Ajay McLaughlin's deft lyrics, wit akin to Elvis Costello's, looseness akin to the Faces, and pop sensibilities akin to the Beatles.
The backward-looking/forward-sounding "Time Machine," their second album, is available at CD Baby. Today, Bush's long-running project, The Peace Creeps, has released a new album called Social Studies, which has received airplay on stations like WXPN, WMMR, and SiriusXM. It has been dubbed "A modern American classic" by Ben Vaughn. They have an atmospheric sound, similar to the late 1960s Beatles and Stones, but with themes relevant to today.
