The Outlaws Information
Outlaws are a southern rock/country rock band that originated from Tampa, Florida. The band was founded originally in 1967 and stayed active from 1967–1971, 1972–1996, and 2005–present. The Outlaws were created by guitarists/vocalists Frank Guidry, Herbie Pino, Hughie Thomasson, Hobie O'Brien, drummer David Dix, and bassist Phil Holmberg who entered later. The group's current lineup includes Monte Yoho – drums, percussion; Henry Paul – guitars, vocals; Steve Grisham – guitars, vocals; Dave Robbins – keyboards, backing vocals; Randy Threet – bass, vocals; and Dale Oliver – guitars.
Outlaws were the first act signed to Arista Records under Clive Davis. The band opened for Lynyrd Skynyrd in Columbus, Georgia, where Davis noticed them. Two of the Outlaws' initial songs are "There Goes Another Love Song" and "Green Grass and High Tides," which were included in the 1975 debut album The Outlaws.
Outlaws released many notable albums throughout their career, such as Lady in Waiting, Hurry Sundown, Playin' to Win, Ghost Riders, Diablo Canyon, and It's About Pride. The band also released a few Live albums that include Bring It Back Alive (1978), Hittin' the Road (1993), and Extended Versions (2002). Greatest Hits Of The Outlaws...High Tides Forever (1982), Best of the Outlaws: Green Grass and High Tides (1996), and Super Hits (2009), are the three compilation albums by Outlaws.
