The National Information
The National is a rock band from Cincinnati, Ohio, that came together in 1999 in Brooklyn, NY. Matt Berninger is on vocals, Aaron and Bryce Dessner are twins, and the band features brothers Scott and Bryan Devendorf on bass and drums, respectively. Even though she isn't officially a band member, Matt Berninger's wife, Carin Besser, has been penning songs with her husband since the release of 2007's Boxer.
Matt Berninger, Aaron Dessner, Scott Devendorf, and Bryan Devendorf formed the band The National in 1999. Aaron and his twin brother Bryce Dessner started the indie record company Brassland Records, where the band's self-titled debut album, The National (2001), was published. Bryce, who had helped record the album, quickly became a full-fledged band member and contributed to the subsequent album, Sad Songs for Dirty Lovers (2003).
Trouble Will Find Me, the band's sixth studio album, was released in 2013 and received a Grammy Award nomination. The band's 2017 Sleep Well Beast album was nominated for a Grammy. I Am Easy to Find, their eighth studio album was released in 2019.
First Two Pages of Frankenstein, their ninth studio album, was released on April 28, 2023. It featured guest performances by Phoebe Bridgers, Sufjan Stevens, and Taylor Swift. The AAA and Rock charts on Billboard had it at the top spot. In 2013, music critic Laura Snapes recommended five albums by the band for inclusion in NME's The 500 Greatest Albums of All Time list.
