The Musical Box Information
In 1993, the Montreal, Quebec-based tribute band The Musical Box came together to pay homage to the 1970s rock sound of the English band Genesis. Their name comes from a song from Genesis's 1971 third studio album, Nursery Cryme, and the band The Musical Box was created in 1993 in Montreal, Quebec, Canada.
The band got the rights to recreate Genesis' 1974–1975 tour in 2004, which featured extended performances of songs from the band's double album The Lamb Lies Down on Broadway (1974), including encores. The band's Selling England by the Pound tour took place in 2013 and 2014 to commemorate the album's 40th anniversary; on certain dates, they performed their Foxtrot show instead. The tour was then prolonged and continued till the beginning of 2018, with the "Black Show" performing at several stops.
In honor of the band's 25th anniversary, A Genesis Extravaganza, a new production, was on tour from the end of 2018 into the beginning of 2019. The three-act production included songs from various musical works, including From Genesis to Revelation (1969) and Wind & Wuthering (1976).
They plan to tour Extravaganza Volume 2, the anticipated sequel to the critically acclaimed A Genesis Extravaganza, in late 2019 and early 2020. Beginning with Trespass (1970) and ending with...And Then There Were Three... (1978), this production was the band's first foray into the trio era.
