The Mastersons Information
The Mastersons is an American alternative country band, composed of husband and wife Chris Masterson and Eleanor Whitmore. The couple is based in Brooklyn, New York though both were born in Texas. Both of them enjoyed successful careers as supporting musicians. Whitmore played fiddle for Kelly Willis, whereas Masterson toured with Son Volt. They met each other at a Steamboat Springs music festival in 2006 and later married in 2009.
In 2009, Whitmore was assisted by Masterson on a solo record. Whitmore provided violin and harmony vocals on the extended play for Masterson. The Mastersons also joined The Dukes and Duchesses in 2011, Steve Eearle's touring band. The duo christened themselves as The Mastersons in 2012 and recorded their debut record entitled "Birds Fly South." The album collected songs they had written independently. They got the support of Falcon Valdez (drums), George Reiff (bass), Sweney Tidball (keyboards), and Mike Hardwick (pedal steel).
The duo also co-wrote all the songs on Good Luck Charm (2014), which was produced by Tom Petty. In 2017, The Mastersons released their third record entitled "Transient Lullaby." The title tracks reflect the numerous cities the duo has lived in as well as how frequently they tour. They have recently released their fourth album entitled "No Time for Love Songs" on March 6, 2020. The duo released all of their notable singles and albums on the New West record label.
