The Lone Bellow Information
The Lone Bellow is a musical group that originated from Brooklyn, New York, in 2011. The group started as a songwriting project for Zach Williams. His wife had suffered temporary paralysis following a horseback riding accident, and during her recovery, Williams tried to cope with the experience by writing. The current members included in this group are Zach Williams, Kanene Donehey Pipkin, and Brian Elmquist. Their music is defined as indie-folk, Americana, and alt-country.
The Lone Bellow signed with Descendant Records in 2012, which was a newly formed imprint of Sony Music. The group released its self-titled debut in January 2013, which was produced by Charlie Peacock. The album was recorded at the local NYC venue Rockwood Music Hall in 3 days. It debuted at number 64 on the Billboard 200. It was also featured on the ten different Best of 2013 year-end lists.
In early 2014, it was announced by the band that it would be recording a new album with producer Aaron Dessner of The National. "Then Came the Morning" was the first single that came on October 6, 2014, included in the album. "Fake Roses" was another single included in the album and was premiered on Stereogum on November 3, 2014. Finally, the album itself was released on January 27, 2015. Some of the other notable records from the band are Walk Into a Storm (September 15, 2017), Half Moon Light (February 7, 2020), and a few more singles.
The Lone Bellow was nominated for the Americana Music Honors & Awards 2015.
