The Ides of March is a rock band that originated from Berwyn, Illinois. The group produced some major US and UK hits, including one of their songs, Vehicle, in 1970. In 1973, the band went on hiatus and returned with the original lineup in 1990. Since then, the rock band has been playing music actively. The current lineup of The Ides of March consists of Jim Peterik (guitar and lead vocals), Larry Millas (guitar, keyboards, and vocals), Bob Bergland (bass guitar, vocals, and tenor saxophone), Mike Borch (drums and vocals), Scott May (Hammond organ, vocals, and keyboards), Tim Bales (trumpet), Steve Eisen (saxophone), and Henry Salgado (trombone).
The Ides of March was created in 1964 as a four-piece band called “The Shon-Dels.” The band’s first record entitled “Like It Or Lump It” was released on their own “Epitome” record label. The group changed its name to “The Ides of March” in 1966. “You Wouldn’t Listen” was the first single released by the group on Parrot Records. The single reached number 7 on June 7, 1966, on WLS Chicago, and number 42 on July 23-30, 1966, on the Hot 100.
The Ides of March secured a recording contract with Warner Bros in 1970 and released “Vehicle.” This track became the fastest-selling single in Warner Bros’s history, reaching number two on the Billboard Hot 100 and number six on the corresponding Cash Box listings. The Ides of March has released several more notable albums, including Common Bond (1971), World Woven (1972), Midnight Oil (1973), Still 19 (2010), and numerous others.
