The Hives Information
The Hives is a Swedish rock band. The current lineup consists of Howlin' Pelle Almqvist, Nicholaus Arson, Vigilante Carlstroem, Chris Dangerous, and The Johan and Only. A demo called Sounds Like Sushi was the band's initial release in 1994. A Swedish independent label called Burning Heart Records signed the band in 1995. Their first extended play (EP), Oh Lord! When? How? came out the following year. The group went on tour in 1997 to promote their first studio album, Barely Legal.
The band staged a virtual world tour in January 2021 called the World's First World Wide Web World Tour after being unable to tour in 2020 because of the pandemic. In this tour, they played live-streamed sets at times designated for each country, with "shows" in Berlin, London, New York City, Sydney, São Paulo, and Stockholm. The group resumed their real-life touring schedule later that year (2021), opening for The Offspring on their tours of the United Kingdom and Europe.
The band shared pictures of Howlin' Pelle holding up "The Hives Must Album Now!" and "Honk If You Want a New The Hives Album" protest placards on Hollywood Boulevard in January 2023. In addition, a new line of merchandise was released, including the old and new slogans, among them "The Hives! Make Records or Go Home!" With a new placard reading "Where Is the New The Hives Album," Almqvist was featured in a second batch of images posted in early February.
