The Guess Who Information
The Guess Who is a rock band from Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada, established in 1965. Hits like "American Woman," "These Eyes," and "No Time" propelled the group to fame in the '60s and '70s, when guitarist Randy Bachman and vocalist/keyboardist Burton Cummings were at the helm.
Throughout their peak, The Guess Who put out 11 studio albums that were all Top 10 hits in America. Five of their albums made it into Canada's top ten, and their 1970 album American Woman peaked at No.1 there and No.9 in the US. The Guess Who had over 30 hits in Canada and fourteen in the US Top 40.
Even though the original Guess Who disbanded in 1975, a cover band led by Jim Kale and Garry Peterson has frequently performed as The Guess Who since 1978, without any original members.
A 1987 induction ceremony for The Guess Who was at Canada's Music Hall of Fame. Honourary doctorates were bestowed upon members of The Guess Who from their classic era in 2001 by Brandon University in Brandon, Manitoba.
Cummings considered this a tremendous honor as he had not completed his secondary education. That year, the quartet also received their Walk of Fame induction from Canada.
