The David Wax Museum Information
David Wax Museum is a folk and roots-rock band. The current lineup of the group consists of Suz Stezak and David Wax. I Turned Off Thinking About, the debut album from David Wax Museum, was released in 2008. Many of the songs of the band's second album, Carpenter Bird (2009), would later become mainstays of their live performances.
After winning a competition for a seat at the 2010 Newport Folk Festival, the band experienced success. The group was deemed "the standout act" of the festival by Paste magazine. The band took first place in the Americana category of the 2010 Boston Music Awards. Born with a Broken Heart, which won Song of the Year at the Boston Music Awards, is a song from the band's critically praised 2011 album Everything Is Saved. David Wax Museum was named one of the "Ten Acts That Rocked South by Southwest" by Time magazine's Craig Duff after performing at South by Southwest in 2011.
Following his time at Deep Springs College and Harvard University, David Wax developed an interest in rural Mexican folk music and now works on various son musical genres. Wax, a native of Columbia, Missouri, performs vocals and predominantly plays the jarana, a guitar-like instrument from Mexico.
