The Darkness Information
The Darkness is a British based rock band. The band was formed in 2000 in Lowestoft. The current lineup of the band consists of Justin Hawkins (lead guitar, lead vocals), Dan Hawkins (backing vocals, rhythm guitar), who is Justin’s brother, Rufus Tiger Taylor (backing vocals, drums), and Frankie Poullain (backing vocals, bass guitar). The Darkness was renowned for their live shows.
The Darkness caught some major attention after the release of their debut album in 2003 called “Permission to Land.” The albums’ backing singles were “Love is Only A Feeling,” “Growing on Me,” “I Believe in a Thing Called Love,” and “Get Your Hands off My Women.” The album sold over 1.3 million copies and got a certified quadruple platinum in the United Kingdom. The band has been awarded Brit Awards in three different categories, including Best British Rock Act, Best British Group, and Best British Album.
In November 2005, the band released their second album called “One Way Ticket To Hell… and Back”. The Darkness announced their reunion shows on March 15, 2011, with their original bassist Frankie Poullain, who left the band back in 2005. On August 20, 2012, the band released its third album, “Hot Cakes.” In 2015, the band announced their fourth studio album entitled “Last of Our Kind.” This album was released then on June 2, 2015.
The band’s other studio albums are Pinewood Smile (2017), and Easter is Cancelled (2019). The Darkness has been honored with several awards, such as Kerrang! Best Album for their album Permission to Land, Metal Hammer ‘Golden God’ for Best Single for their single “Get Your Hands off My Women.”
