After building a dedicated fan base in Salt Lake City clubs over a decade, activist-musician Talia went on to achieve widespread recognition via national performances and festival appearances across the country. She is a modern take on the rock n' roll troubadour, singing songs of struggle and eventual victory while maintaining a vintage aesthetic and a trademark fire and brimstone stage presence. The strong sound of Lessons is indicative of a dedicated composer, principled musician, and captivating performer.
Keys has backed a wide variety of artists from different generations, including the Indigo Girls, Lukas Nelson and The Promise of the Real, George Clinton and Parliament Funkadelic, Michael Franti, and Thievery Corporation, among many others, in numerous band incarnations over the years. For over five years, Keys has used the reliable rhythms of The Love as her live band's backbone. Drummer Dave Brogan (ALO) is joined by Ryan Conger (Joe McQueen Quintet) on keys, bassist Josh Olsen, and backup singer Lisa Giacoletto.
For their 2018 album, We're Here; the band came together to experiment with Keys-activated songs. The Omega Horns are featured on multiple tracks throughout Lessons, providing the songs with much-needed energy and excitement. As of 2022, Talia Keys and the Love have developed a cohesive working dynamic that enhances the band's performances and recordings.
