SYML Information
SYML is the solo project of Brian Fennell's, who was formerly a part of the indie band Barcelona. He was born on January 16, 1983, as Brian Leseney Fennel with origins in Issaquah, Washington. The music of the SYML venture is defined as indie, indie pop, pop, and alternative. SYML released his debut album with Nettwerk Records, on May 3, 2019. SYML means "simple" in Welsh, and it is taken from his heritage. Fennell came to know that he was adopted, so this, along with his heritage, influences his songwriting.
"Where's My Love" was one of the tracks released under SYML that was used on the popular drama TV show Teen Wolf. The record charted for straight 20 weeks on the Billboard Hot Rock Songs chart and received Gold certification in Canada and Belgium. It held number 1 spot on Canada's CBC Top 20 charts twice. The song was featured prominently in the official trailer for the 2018 motion picture entitled Adrift.
SYML's fan-favorite cover of the classic "Mr. Sandman" was featured in 2019 in the short film TIM (The Invisible Me). The movie was by writer/director John Grammatico. Some of the other discographies released under SYML are Hurt for Me (2016), Where's My Love (2017), Hurt for Me (Piano & Strings) (2017), and In My Body (2018). Some of the hit singles include "Wildfire (Instrumentals)" (2018), "Clean Eyes" (2018) #29 Alternative Songs, "The Bird" (2019), "Symmetry" (2019), "Take Me Apart" (2019), and "Flags" (2020).
