Smith and Myers Information
Smith & Myers debuted in 2014 as an acoustic side project of guitarist Zach Myers and Shinedown vocalist Brent Smith. Volume 1, the pair's first album, was released in 2020 and featured cover songs and original compositions with a personal touch. The idea for the initiative came from the band's Atlantic Records marketing representative in Florida, who proposed an internet contest where fans could vote on songs they would want to hear the band perform acoustically.
After receiving an overwhelming number of entries, they narrowed it down to six, with the remaining four to be announced later. Released in early 2014 under the moniker Smith & Myers, the (Acoustic Sessions) EP featured YouTube music videos featuring the duo playing each song.
The project includes songs such as "London Calling" by the Clash, "Nothing Else Matters" by Metallica, and "Runaway Train" by Soul Asylum. In 2020, the pair released Volume 1, their debut studio album. In addition to their original song "Not Mad Enough," the ten-song package featured covers of pop standards such as "Unchained Melody" by the Righteous Brothers and "Never Tear Us Apart" by INXS.
