Skinny Puppy Information
Skinny Puppy is a Canadian electro-industrial band. Skinny Puppy was an early member of the Vancouver label Nettwerk, which they joined after self-releasing a cassette tape in 1984. From their 1984 Nettwerk EP Remission through their 1992 LP Last Rights, Skinny Puppy fused elements of industrial, funk, noise, new wave, electro, and rock music while making pioneering use of sampling. They became an important band with a committed cult following.
Along with other groups, including Ministry and The Dillinger Escape Plan, Skinny Puppy played at the Amnesia Rockfest in Montebello, Canada, in June 2015. The band reunited with Youth Code for the Down the SocioPath tour, which took place in 2015 and 2017, respectively, across North America and Europe. This tour marked the end of all Weapon tracks and the introduction of numerous songs from the band's 1996 album, The Process, which live performances had not supported since Goettel died in 1995.
The "Skinny Puppy: Final Tour" announcement came in February 2023. The band's 40th anniversary was celebrated during the trip. The first section began on April 5 and ended on May 9, with a halt at Sick New World on May 13. After announcing a second leg of The Final Tour in July 2023, the band continued performing together until December 5, 2023, when they split up.
