Sicard Hollow Information
All four members of Sicard Hollow came together out of a shared desire to push the limits of traditional bluegrass music. These young musicians, inspired by the Grateful Dead and the New Grass Revival, breathe fresh life into a classic sound through a mix of bold improvisation and skill on their respective instruments.
The members of Sicard Hollow, a psychedelic punk-grass band based in Nashville, got weary of having their identities prescribed to them at a young age. Now that they're adults, they're sick of the music industry instructing them how to make music, so they took an old sound and gave it a fresh coat of patchouli and a dose of skate-and-demolish attitude.
None of the current ensemble members were interested in bluegrass before their 2018 meeting. Will Herrin (mandolin/vocals) was playing guitar in rock bands, Alex King (guitar/vocals) was scarcely playing music at all, and Matt Rennick (violin) was working on electronic music. The bluegrass evolved naturally after a few band sessions. The band has been on a voyage of self-discovery within the genre, challenging themselves to make it their own since the addition of Parrish Gabriel (bass) in the fall of 2019.
