Roberto Antonio Perez Herrera (March 8, 1956) is a Dominican merengue singer. He is professionally known by his stage name, Rubby Perez. In his youth, Perez wanted to play baseball, but after a traffic accident damaged his left leg, he decided to pursue music instead. He made his initial moves as a member of school organizations such as Choir Youth Guidance Society, The Youth of Bani in 1978, and Los Hijos del Rey after studying music at the National Conservatory of Santo Domingo. In the early 1980s (1982–1986), Perez joined Wilfrido Vargas' orchestra and had the privilege of making songs like "El Africano," "Volveré," "Cuando estés con él," and "Cobarde cobarde," among others.
He had hits with "Buscando tus besos," "Dame veneno," "Enamorado de ella," "Hazme olvidarla," "Sobreviviré," "T vas a volar," "Hipocresia," "El perro ajeno," "As no te amarán jamás," and "Tonto corazón" among others in 1987 when he Two of his songs have charted on Billboard. His single "Love her" peaked at number 29 on the Latin Charts, while his album "Rubby Perez" spent two weeks at the top of the Tropical chart, peaking at number fifteen.
The "Orchestra of the Year" and "Merengue of the Year" categories at the Casandra Awards were among the honors he has received. With his first solo album, he achieved gold and platinum status in Venezuela in 1988. The Globo Awards for "Best Song" and "Album of the Year" were also given to him.
