Marc Anthony (September 16, 1968) is an American singer, musician, and actor born in New York City. He is professionally known by his stage name, Marc Anthony. Anthony has sold more tropical salsa albums than anybody else. He has won four Grammys and eight Latin Grammys. Anthony also sold over 12 million CDs throughout the world.
Anthony, well-known for his Latin salsa tunes and ballads, has received several honors and recognitions for his tireless efforts. The Congressional Hispanic Caucus Institute (CHCI) gave him their Lifetime Achievement Award in 2009. The "2009 CHCI Chair's Lifetime Achievement Award" was also presented to him on the same day.
Anthony has more number-one albums on the Billboard Tropical Albums year-end charts than anybody else. He also holds the Guinness World Record for best-selling tropical/salsa artist. With 32 songs at the top of the Billboard Latin Tropical Airplay chart, he is also the musician with the most number ones.
Anthony has had 25 songs that have reached the top of the Billboard Hot 100. These songs have been viewed over 680 million in total and 270 million times on YouTube. In May of 2015, his video for the song, A Quien Quiero Mentirle, reached 100 million views, earning him his second Vevo PL accreditation. The first song from 3.0, "Vivir Mi Vida," held the record for the longest-running No. 1 hit on Billboard. The song stayed at that position for 18 weeks straight in 2013.
According to Rolling Stone's 2023 list of the 200 Greatest Singers of All Time, Anthony is rated 167th.
