Portugal the Man Information
Portugal. The Man is a band from Wasilla, Alaska. The team comprises Eric Howk. Kyle O'Quin, Jason Sechrist, Zach Carothers, John Baldwin Gourley, Zoe Manville In 2001, Gourley and Carothers became musical partners while attending Wasilla High School.
After putting out two albums for Fearless Records and three for their label, Approaching AIRballoons, in conjunction with Equal Vision Records, the band switched to Atlantic Records in 2010 to release their subsequent four studio albums. In 2017, they won the Grammy for "Best Pop Duo/Group Performance" for their single "Feel It Still" at the 60th ceremony.
In 2021, the band released Oregon City Sessions, a live CD recorded at a studio in a Portland, Oregon suburb in December 2008. The band's rendition of "Don't Tread on Me" by Metallica was included on the September 2021 charity tribute album The Metallica Blacklist.
Single "Dummy" from their ninth studio album, Chris Black Changed My Life, was released on March 1, 2023. Atlantic Records released the album on June 23, 2023. Jeff Bhasker produced it and was in memory of a band member who had passed away. A tour in its support will kick off in June of 2023 at the Bonnaroo Music Festival.
The song became widely known after being used in a Taco Bell commercial before it was released as a single. Jason Sechrist, the band's drummer, left again in 2023 after briefly returning in 2016.
