Pillow Queens Information
Dublin, Ireland's Pillow Queens began in 2016, and they play indie rock. Sarah Corcoran and Pamela Connolly share lead vocal duties, Cathy McGuiness plays guitar, and Rachel Lyons keeps the beat. If Corcoran is singing lead on a song, then Connolly will play bass for that song and vice versa.
The band's lyrics have won acclaim for their ability to honestly and freely address issues such as their Irish Catholic upbringing, and many of the band members are also out as LGBT. The Guardian has praised the band's willingness to "explore the junction of religion and queerness" by NME and " acknowledge the psychological challenge of adapting to even good societal change after a lifetime conditioned in its antithesis" by The Guardian.
In 2020, the band issued their first full-length, titled In Waiting. The Irish Times called it "an emotional masterpiece," and other publications agreed. In April of 2022, a second album titled Leave the Light On was released.
