Phil Joel Information
Phil Joel (January 5, 1973) is a New Zealand musician. He was born in Aukland, New Zealand. Watching Over You, his debut solo record, appeared on Inpop Records in June 2000. He promoted the record alongside LaRue, Luna Halo, Earthsuit, V*Enna, and Katy Hudson through the Strangely Normal Tour. (now known as Katy Perry).
Phil Joel, lead singer of the Newsboys, is pictured at the 2001 National Lutheran Youth Gathering. Bring It On, his second solo effort, was published in November 2002, also on Inpop. The deliberatePeople is his third studio record. As part of their newly established Christian ministry, deliberatePeople, Phil, and Heather Joel published their album on November 18, 2005.
The record received high marks for its raw rock sound compared to the Jesus Music movement. Heather, his wife, used to anchor the CMT shows All Access and Hit Trip. He first heard of Heather, a local Kansan, on the radio. They tied the knot in 1996 and are now parents to two young children.
Joel revealed his departure from the Newsboys in December 2006 to spend more time with his family. For his third consecutive solo album, Joel issued The New Normal in September 2008. In 2015, Joel launched a ministry called Zealand Worship. During 2018, Joel will be touring with his fellow former Newsboys members as part of the Newsboys United tour, originally revealed in December 2017.
