Patrick Davis is an American South Carolina based singer, showman, songwriter, and storyteller. He grew up in the small town of Camden, South Caroline. He began learning the finer points of soul, r&b, folk, and rock n’ roll from his father, who also played guitar. Davis joined his dad on stage at the age of 16, making it his first-ever performance. Since then, he has been carrying music in his blood and tours all across the country. After Davis completed his graduation from the University of South Carolina, he moved to Nashville, Tennessee.
Davis continued to build his songwriting, touring, and artistic career for the next 15 years in Nashville. He released four full-length albums that were well received for his career. He also toured the United States and Europe, both as a supporting act for Darius Rucker, Jewel, and as a headliner. Davis was also employed as a staff writer for Warner Chappell Music Publishing.
Davis has written over fifty songs that have been recorded by other artists. This includes songs for Guy Clark, Robert Randolph, Jewel, Darius Rucker, Imelda May, Lady A, and Jimmy Buffet. Davis eventually shifted more towards writing for his performances and the live touring band he founded. This group would be named Patrick Davis & Midnight Choir.
It is an 11-piece ensemble that features background and horns singers. The band was created in 2016 from Davis’s artistic vision and the soundscapes of his songwriting. He got the band name idea from one of his favorite songs, “Bird On a Wire.”
