Michael David Rosenberg (May 17, 1984) is an English indie folk singer and songwriter. He is professionally known as Passenger. At the age of sixteen, Rosenberg made his performing debut. Through his father's connections in the film industry, Rosenberg was introduced to Jamie Catto in 2001. Thanks to Catto's recommendation, in 2002, Rosenberg was fortunate enough to perform two songs at the Free Burma Campaign benefit event at London's Royal Court.
Passenger released songs for the Drunk and Broken Hearted on January 8, 2021. The coronavirus shutdown delayed the record's release, which was originally scheduled for early 2020. The album's release benefits the non-profits Ecologi and Eden Reforestation Projects, whose mission is to restore degraded natural areas. With the purchase of each vinyl record from the Passenger store, a tree will be added to the forest.
Birds That Flew and Ships That Sailed, Passenger's fourteenth studio album, was released on April 14, 2022. Without the help of a record company or publicity squad, the album was launched on its own. Plastic Bank is a humanitarian enterprise that fights plastic pollution in the ocean, and this record release benefits them. With its debut at #35 on the Official UK Albums Chart, Passenger achieved their eighth Top 40 album with this release.
