Okean Elzy Information
Okean Elzy is a Ukrainian rock band whose name translates to 'Elza's Ocean.' It arose in Lviv, Ukraine, in 1994. Among Ukrainian music bands, this one is well-known and successful. Svyatoslav Vakarchuk is the frontperson and vocalist of the band. Okean Elzy was awarded FUZZ Magazine music in April 2007 for "Best rock act." Okean Elzy staged a performance for their 20th anniversary in Kyiv at NSC Olimpiyskiy in front of 70,000 spectators on June 21, 2014.
This was the largest concert ever held in Ukrainian history. Being among the few Ukrainian acts to do so, the band ceased touring Russia after the 2014 Russian takeover of Crimea. To promote their ninth studio album, "Without Limits," the most well-known Ukrainian rock band Okean Elzy set out on a two-year world tour in 2016.
The band assembled almost 100,000 supporters for their concert at NSC Olimpiyskiy on August 24, 2018, dedicated to Ukraine's independence day. The vocalist of Okean, Elzy Vakarchuk, joined the Lviv Oblast territorial defense brigade on March 7, 2022, during the Russian invasion of Ukraine. Starting in Malmö, Sweden, their European tour begins April 13, 2024, and then moves on to Gothenburg, Brussels, and the UK.
