Naked Eyes Information
Naked Eyes is an English new wave band. The current lineup of the group consists of founding member Pete Byrne. Pete Byrne and Rob Fisher founded Naked Eyes. The two had previously been in a Neon band, which included future Tears for Fears members. Naked Eyes was one of the first bands to employ the Fairlight CMI sampling synthesizer on a recording.
Tony Mansfield produced the debut album Burning Bridges and the follow-up album Fuel for the Fire, which featured two titles produced by Arthur Baker. "Promises, Promises" and "When The Lights Go Out," their second and third songs, were hit singles in the United States.
Byrne relocated to California after the publication of the band's second album. He delivered background vocals with Rita Coolidge and Princess Stephanie on Stevie Wonder's "Part-Time Lover" and wrote and produced for the Olsen twins.
In 2001, Byrne released The Real Illusion, a solo album that included some of the final tracks he wrote with Fisher for a third Naked Eyes album. Byrne formed a band to do Naked Eyes shows in 2005 and has been touring. Naked Eyes released Fumbling in 2007 with the Versions, an acoustic album that included Naked Eyes songs and covers of Bob Dylan, The Beatles, and Elvis Costello, among others.
