Mudhoney Information
Mudhoney is an American rock band that originated from Seattle, Washington. The group was founded in 1988, following the end of another band, Green River. Mudhoney plays grunge, alternative rock, garage punk, and punk rock. The band’s current lineup consists of singer and rhythm guitarist Mark Arm, bassist Guy Maddison, lead guitarist Steve Turner, and drummer Dan Peters. Matt Lukin was the original bassist of the group who left in 1999. The band’s name is taken from the Russ Meyer film Mudhoney. The group members recorded and released their debut EP in 1988, Superfuzz Bigmuff.
“Touch Me I’m Sick” was the first single by Mudhoney on the Sub Pop label. The song was able to earn significant attention, which allowed the band to enjoy moderate success in the US. It soon became the flagship band of Sub Pop. Mudhoney toured with Sonic Youth in the UK (1989). The group released its first self-titled album in the same year. Superfuzz Bigmuff was listed by Kurt Cobain in his journal in 1993 as one of his favorite albums.
Every Good Boy Deserves Fudge was the second album by Mudhoney, which came out in 1991. Right after this release, the band was offered a deal with Reprise Records, and in 1992, they joined the label. Other notable albums by the group include Piece of Cake (1992), My Brother the Cow (1995), Tomorrow Hit Today (1998), Since We’ve Become Translucent (2002), Under a Billion Suns (2006), The Lucky Ones (2008), and Digital Garbage (2018).
