Motley Crue Information
Mötley Crüe is an American heavy metal band consisting of Nikki Sixx, Mick Mars, Vince Neil, and Tommy Lee. The band was formed on January 17, 1981, in Los Angeles, California. To date, the band has sold more than 100 million albums all over the world. They have also achieved seven multi-platinum or platinum certifications, twenty-two Top 40 mainstream rock hits, nine Top 10 albums on the Billboard 200 chart, and six Top 20 pop singles.
The decision to use the Mötley Crüe name followed the swift replacement of the latter by Vince Neil. Global album sales for the band exceed 100 million. Additionally, they have seven albums certified platinum or multi-platinum, twenty-two songs that reached the top 40 in mainstream rock, six pop singles that reached the top 20, and nine albums that peaked on the Billboard 200 list (among which is 1989's Dr. Feelgood, the only album by Mötley Crüe to reach number one).
The Dirt, a Netflix biopic based on the band's best-selling autobiography, was released on March 22, 2019, and features four new songs by the band members. The album's soundtrack peaked at No. 1 on iTunes' All Genres Album Chart, No. 3 on Billboard's Top Album and Digital Album sales charts, 10th on the Billboard 200, and 10th globally.
In June 2023, Neil said the band would do another stadium tour in 2024. Neil revealed in July 2023 that the band had recorded three original songs. The number 196 John 5 announced the name of his new single, "Dogs of War," in September 2023. The Beastie Boys' "Fight for Your Right (to Party!)" was reportedly covered by the band, he added.
