Motion City Soundtrack Information
Motion City Soundtrack is a rock ensemble from the US that was started in 1997 in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Justin Pierre on vocals and guitar, Joshua Cain on lead guitar, Jesse Johnson on keyboards, Matthew Taylor on bass, and Tony Thaxton on drums make up the band's lineup. Throughout its existence, the band has been touring and releasing music on many labels, the most prominent of which is Epitaph Records, an independent label.
Cain and Pierre started the band, and getting a regular roster together took them a while. The band debuted in 2003 with the release of I Am the Movie. Both 2005's Commit This to Memory and 2007's Even If It Kills Me were commercial successes for the band.
The band was a mainstay on the Warped Tour for a long time. After a brief stint with Columbia on My Dinosaur Life (2010), they returned to Epitaph for 2012's Go. In 2015, they dropped their latest album, Panic Stations. The next year, the band broke up, but 2019 saw the announcement of a comeback.
The band performed at Adjacent Fest and When We Were Young in 2023 as part of the Wet Hot All-American Summer Tour, backed by the All-American Rejects. The band's I Am the Movie anniversary tour began in 2024. As Pierre heals from a back ailment, Zach Comtois has stepped in as the tour's rhythm guitarist.
