He has been affiliated with two recording companies, Polydor Records and Communion. Michael Kiwanuka released his debut album in 2012 named 'Home Again, ' which reached the status of gold in the United Kingdom. Michael Kiwanuka was born and raised in a small district of London called Muswell Hill. At the age of 22, Michael Kiwanuka performed his first gig at The Oxford in Kentish Town. The Communion Record helped Michael Kiwanuka to release his first two Extended Plays and his debut single called Tell Me A Tale in 2011.
Michael Kiwanuka's second album named 'Love & Hate' reached number one in the United Kingdom in the year 2016. Michael was one of the supporting acts for Adele at her Adele Live 2011 tour. In the same year, he also played at the Hard Rock Calling in 2011. His music is mostly influenced by artists such as Bill Withers, Jimi Hendrix, Joni Mitchell, Bob Dylan, Funkadelic, Jack Johnson, Richie Havens, Pops Staples, and many more. In 2011 Michael Kiwanuka won Sound of 2012 for BBC. his album Love & Hate won Album of the Year at the Worldwide Awards and Best Global Act at the HIPipo Music Awards in 2017. In 2017 he was nominated for British Male Solo Artist and British Album of the Year at the BRIT Music Awards.
