Michael Bolton (February 26, 1953) is an American musician born in New Haven, Connecticut,. Throughout the mid-1970s and into the mid-1980s, Bolton showcased his hard rock and heavy metal talents on solo albums and those made as the lead singer of the band Blackjack. Changing his style in the late '80s, he released a string of pop-rock ballads that would later make him famous.
In addition to two No.1 singles, eight top-ten albums, and 75 million records sold, Bolton has won 2 Grammys and 6 American Music Awards.
"Go the Distance" (from the Disney animated film Hercules) was Bolton's last U.S. Top 40 song. It reached No. 1 on the US adult contemporary chart in 1997. On his 2001 tour, he enlisted the services of Larry Baird, who has previously conducted, arranged, and served as orchestral musical director for artists such as Al Jarreau, Three Dog Night, and The Moody Blues.
In Meet Wally Sparks (1997), Two and a Half Men (2012), and The Nanny (1998), among others, Bolton made many cameo appearances, mostly as himself, in feature films and television shows.
He participated as "Wolf" in the ninth season of 2023. He sang "How Am I Supposed to Live Without You" as an encore after being removed from "DC Superheroes Night" to promote his new album. As a representative of Connecticut, Bolton sang "Beautiful World" during his first performance on March 21, 2022, at the American Song Contest.
