Matt Mauser Information
After spending over two decades performing and writing, Matt Mauser has established himself as a songwriter, solo musician, pop/rock bandleader, and Sinatra-style vocalist. Growing up in Southern California, he became an all-American swimmer before focusing on music.
He met Christina, another athlete, at a local gig by his Orange County, California, party band, the Tijuana Dogs. They wed, and he began raising a family while she taught Spanish during the day, and he played music at night. Mauser blended his two passions for music and learning in an innovative educational project called Rockin' the Class. He used a collection of songs he had composed, performed, and recorded to teach children the basics of Spanish.
After losing his wife in the helicopter disaster that took the lives of NBA legend Kobe Bryant and seven others in January of 2020, Mauser has turned to music as a form of solace and a means of making a living. Kobe had Mauser compose music for his instructional podcast, "The Punies." Kobe and Christina coached a women's basketball team at the Mamba Sports Academy, where they both worked. Everyone who follows basketball throughout the world felt terrible about their defeat, but Mauser took it particularly hard.
