Marshall Crenshaw Information
Marshall Howard Crenshaw (November 11, 1953) is an American guitarist, songwriter, singer, and musician. He is best known for his hit singles “Whenever You’re On My Mind,” “Cynical Girl,” and “Someday, Someway.” Born in Detroit, Michigan, Crenshaw grew up in the northern suburb of Berkley. In June 1971, Crenshaw graduated from Berkley High School but had begun playing guitar when he was just 10. After completing high school, he led the band “Astigfa.”
Crenshaw got his first breakthrough when he played John Lennon in the musical entitled “Beatlemania” in 1978. Crenshaw has worked with different record labels throughout his career such as Warner Bros, Rhino, Razor and Tie, Red River, and 429. Crenshaw released his debut studio album entitled “Marshall Crenshaw” on April 28, 1982.
Marshall was listed among hundreds of those artists whose material was destroyed in the 2008 Universal fire, by The New York Times Magazine, on June 25, 2019. Nonetheless, Crenshaw has released several notable projects throughout his career, including extended plays. His significant EPs include US Remix (1984), I Don’t See You Laughing Now (2012), Stranger and Stranger (2013), Drivin’ and Dreamin’ (2013), Red Wine (2014), Move Now (2014), and Grab the Next Train (2015).
Some of the other studio albums that are released by Marshall Crenshaw so far include Field Day (1983), Downtown (1985), Mary Jean & 9 Others (1987), Good Evening (1989), Life’s Too Short (1991), Miracle of Science (1996), #447 (1999), What’s In The Bag? (2003), and Jaggedland (2009).
