Mark Lettieri (1984) is an American producer, composer, and guitarist. He was born in San Francisco, California. He picked up the instrument at the tender age of 12 years old. He credits Jimi Hendrix and Joe Satriani, inspiring him to learn more about the guitar. In addition to formal training, he picked up the instrument by listening to records, mimicking guitar solos, and performing with several bands.
After graduating from Texas Christian University in Fort Worth, where he majored in business, he switched to a career in music. He was a prominent figure in the Dallas-Fort Worth music scene, where he sang R&B, gospel, Christian, country, blues, rock, and funk in clubs, recording sessions, backing bands, and across categories. When asked about his advice for aspiring musicians, he mentioned the importance of adapting to different roles and musical styles.
In 2008, Lettieri joined the Dallas-based jazz fusion band Snarky Puppy, whose members, like Lettieri, were influenced by the city's R&B music culture. He has won four Grammy Awards with the group in which he performs. He formed the instrumental trio The Fearless Flyers with guitarist Cory Wong, bassist Joe Dart, and drummer Nate Smith. This quartet has been active since 2018, releasing three extended plays, a record in the studio, and a live album.
