Marco Antonio Solis (December 29, 1959) is a Mexican singer, musician, songwriter, and record producer. He was born in Ario de Rosales, Michoacan. More than thirty of his solo recordings, including three number-ones on Billboard's Hot Latin Tracks chart, attest to his enduring popularity not just in his native Mexico but across Latin America, Spain, and the United States. He has collaborated with such artists as Olga Taón, Ana Bárbara, Chayanne, Enrique Iglesias, Marc Anthony, and Anas.
Marco Antonio Solís got his big break in the 1970s when he co-founded Los Bukis, a Mexican grupera band that would go on to sell millions of albums and pack stadiums across the U.S. and Mexico. The group achieved huge success with their 1986 album "Me Volví a Acordar de Ti," which sold 1.35 million copies and earned diamond certification in Mexico. Solís writes songs that delve deep into the heart, blending traditional Mexican sounds with modern ballad styles that evoke both tears and singing along.
Los Bukis ruled the Latin music scene for nearly two decades before Solís decided to go solo in 1996 with his debut album "En Pleno Vuelo." His solo career took off like a rocket, earning him five Latin Grammy Awards, a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, and induction into the Billboard Latin Music Hall of Fame. Solís announced his "Más Cerca De Ti World Tour" in June 2025, which will kick off on August 1 and 2 at Denver's Bellco Theatre. The tour will hit major cities, including San Jose, on August 22, with special shows planned for Mexican Independence Day celebrations in Las Vegas. He'll also perform in Sugar Land, Texas, on August 9 and in Durant, Oklahoma, on August 16 and 17. The tour marks another chapter in his five-decade career that began with Los Bukis in the 1970s.
