Magnolia Bayou Information
Magnolia Bayou is an American rock n’ roll band from Mississippi. The band’s music is appropriately redolent of the golden age of rock ‘n’ roll, but it’s also infused with a hefty, southern swagger that’s all their own. Their bluesy atmosphere can be traced back to the group’s roots in Mississippi. They immersed themselves in the state’s rich musical heritage, covering artists such as Son House, Howlin’ Wolf, John Lee Hooker, Sonny Boy Williamson II, Robert Johnson, and many others.
Magnolia Bayou spent three years burning its way through juke joints along the Mississippi Blues route, just like their musical forebears, before independently producing their debut album in 2018. After the album’s release, they spent the next three years touring the surrounding south, venturing as far as the midwest and the Pacific Northeast. They’ve opened for Tyler Childers, Ian Moore, Whiskey Myers, Wet Willie, Ray Wylie Hubbard, Aaron Lewis, Bishop Gunn, Black Stone Cherry, Fantastic Negrito, and, most recently, Buckcherry throughout that time. On June 24th, 2021, they opened for Nightranger at the annual HWY 30 music festival in Filer, Idaho.
Magnolia Bayou began recording their follow-up album, Strange Place, in May of 2019 at Natchez Sound Studio, with Bishop Gunn’s own Burne Sharp at the helm. The album is now widely available.
