Angel received her certification to teach accordion, piano, and music theory when she was only twelve. Angel's career took off quickly after he began traveling with his band Verano. After deciding to pursue a solo career, Angel relocated to Mexico City and quickly gained attention by releasing the single "Llorarás."
The success of the single and subsequent releases like "Yo Mismo" inspired Angel to move to Los Angeles and start making music. Angel's star rose quickly, and in 1989, he was nominated for a Grammy for Best Composer of the Year. In 2020, Angel produced Luis Angel Symphony with the Loja Symphony Orchestra marking a career spanning 40 years.
