Los Straitjackets Information
Los Straitjackets is an instrumental rock band. The group was formed in 1988 in Nashville, Tennessee. The current lineup of the band includes Eddie Angel (guitar), Pete Curry (bass), Chris Sprague (drums), and Greg Townson (guitar). The group released its debut studio album in March 1995 entitled, The Utterly Fantastic and Totally Unbelievable Sound of Los Straitjackets. The band soon began to attract a significant following. The band members dress in identical black suits, Mexican wrestling masks, and Aztec medallions during their live performances. The gdkup6 has undergone many lineup changes since its formation.
Los Straitjackets has provided music for the independent film named Psycho Beach Party. The group also appeared briefly in the film. They have also performed on the late-night television program of Conan O’Brien in the late 1990s during the Christmas holiday season. In June 1996, Los Straitjackets released its second studio album entitled ¡Viva! Los Straitjackets.
Los Straitjackets has also released several live albums, including Live On Spanish TV (2003) (Released in Spain only), In Concert (2008) (Also released as a DVD), Pink Dominoes (Live At KFJC) (1995), Winter Swell II (Live At KFJC) (1996), Damas y Caballeros! (2001), and Los Vivos y Los Raros (2003).
Some of the other notable studio albums released by Los Straitjackets include The Velvet Touch of Los Straitjackets (1999), Sing Along with Los Straitjackets (2001), Encyclopedia of Sound (2001), ‘Tis the Season for Los Straitjackets! (2002), Supersonic Guitars in 3-D (2003), and Play Favorites (2004).
