Lorraine Leckie is a Canadian singer and songwriter. She was born and grew up in Whitby, Ontario. While she grew up in a household where Neil Young and the Rolling Stones constantly played, she eventually married Steve Leckie of the band The Viletones. After discovering punk rock, she began working as a makeup artist in the fashion sector in the 1970s.
She spent most of a decade in Europe before settling in New York and landing clientele like Paul McCartney, Claudia Schiffer, Carla Bruni, and Heidi Klum. 'Four Cold Angels,' Lorraine Leckie & Her Demons' debut studio album, was released in 2008 and was a powerful, rooted rock record with grungy guitar and pounding percussion. The Village Voice included "Four Cold Angels" and "Ontario" on their Pazz & Jop 2008 and 2009 lists.
The album features a rendition of "Dirty Old Town" by the Pogues, which Leckie co-wrote and sang with Anton Newcombe of Brian Jonestown Massacre. The film 'Dirty Old Town,' directed by Jenner Furst and released in 2011, used the song as its main theme. On September 29, 2010, Leckie released Martini Eyes, a solo album that marked a musical change from her rock and roll debut.
