Lo Moon Information
Lo Moon is an American indie rock band. The group's current lineup consists of Sterling Laws, Samuel Stewart, Crisanta Baker, and Matthew Lowell. Matt Lowell, who would later become the band's frontman, started as a songwriter in New York City. After relocating to Los Angeles, he connected with Crisanta Baker, a bassist, and keyboardist.
After hearing a sample of their song "Loveless," she decided to join the band. Soon after, guitarist Samuel Stewart came on board. He is the offspring of David A. Stewart (of the Eurythmics) and Siobhan Fahey (of Bananarama). Band rehearsals quickly began in Lowell's backyard shed. Columbia Records signed Lo Moon after hearing the "Loveless" demo that Lowell had been working on since 2012. Later, Sterling Laws became the band's traveling drummer.
The band's debut single, "Loveless," was released in September 2016 and was produced by Chris Walla (former guitarist for Death Cab for Cutie) and François Tétaz (former producer). The band played a few performances after the single's release but didn't go on tour until the beginning of 2017. The group dropped a follow-up song entitled "This Is It" in May 2017. It debuted in June at New York City's Governors Ball Music Festival and two months later at Chicago's Lollapalooza. As of August 2017, they were also the opening act for Glass Animals.
