Leonid and Friends Information
Leonid and Friends is an homage band to Chicago that is based in Moscow. They first gained popularity on YouTube and now tour on occasion. It was founded and led by Leonid Vorobyev, born in 1957 in Moscow, Russia. At the East Siberian Institute of Culture, Vorobyev is a multi-instrumentalist, recording studio sound engineer, and choir director.
In 2014, Vorobyev recorded the "Brand New Love Affair" music video in Chicago. Leonid and Friends' YouTube videos featuring the late Serge Tiagniryadno, a singer from Kyiv, Ukraine, have gained millions of views.
There are three Chicagovich tribute albums by Leonid & Friends. The band's first U.S. tour was in 2019, following a tour of Russia. Earth, Wind, Fire, Blood, Sweat, Tears, Tower of Power, The Ides of March, Lighthouse, and Steely Dan were all added to the playlist in 2018.
In 2022, Chaka Khan and Ksenia Buzina recorded a rendition of Ain't Nobody for the Leonid & Friends album. Roman Vorobyev (born 1991), son of bandleader Leonid Vorobyev, handles business affairs. The band plays bass and lead guitars, drums, piano, saxophone, trumpet, trombone, and sometimes flugelhorn, French horn, flute, metal clarinet, cello, violin, and other rhythm instruments.
From Miami to Puerto Plata and Nassau, Leonid and Friends will perform among other bands on The Blue Cruise, the world's greatest classic rock music cruise, in 2024. From April 5-10, 2024, passengers will sail on the Norwegian Pearl.
