Leningrad is also famous as “Gruppirovka Leningrad” and “Bandformirovanie Leningrad.” It is a famous rock band from Russia, Saint Petersburg (previously known as Leningrad). This rock band is owned by Sergey "Shnur" Shnurov. The music genres favored by Leningrad include; ska, ska-punk, folk, chanson, and reggae fusion. It is a 14 members rock band that was scattered in 2008 but reunited in 2010.
A few of the current members included in Leningrad are Sergei "Shnur" Shnurov (lyrics, guitar, vocals, arrangements), Vyacheslav "Sevych" Antonov, Aleksandr "Puzo" Popov (bass drummer, vocals), Roman "Shukher" Parygin (trumpet), Ilya "Pianist" Rogachevskiy (keyboard), Viktor Rapotihin (violin), Florida Chanturia, and Dmitry Guguchkin.
Leningrad was created in the late 1990s. The band formerly worked in Gypsy punk style with vulgar lyrics for which it soon got notorious. Due to its lousy fame, many radio stations got reserved with the band, but Leningrad grew even better, popularity-wise, due to its rich brass sound and other aesthetic reasons. Later, the group was able to make its way into radio and TV. Shnurov presented many TV shows on New Year's eve.
Yuliya Kogan, a jazz singer, was chosen by the band as a female backup vocalist in 2007. After the reunion in 2010, the majority of videos and songs featured Kogan as a lead vocalist. Leningrad faced severe prohibition by the former mayor of Moscow, Yuriy Luzhkov. The band is famous for emphasizing song lyrics on girls, vodka, political, and cultural clichés.
Some of the notable discographies by Leningrad are; Bullet, Point, The Eternal Fire, Random Things, Fish, Henna, Aurora, and several more. The songs by the band also got featured in several crime and pulp films such as Bimmer and DMB. The song, No Pity for Anyone, was featured in Grand Theft Auto IV (video game).
