Legado 7 Information
The "lumbre corridos" (fire corridos) performed by Orange County, California's Legado 7 are a trademark of the band and a nod to the group's preferred lyrical topic: weed. First came 2016's 100% Corridos Verde, which they self-released, and then came 2017's En Vivo Desde OK Corral, a live CD. They released their debut album, Un Chamaco Sin Futuro, on the corridos tumbao (trap corridos) label that same year (2017).
Para Lumbre, a 17-song release from 2018, featured guest appearances from other artists. 2019's El Seven de la Suerte was met with critical acclaim on a global scale, while 2020 brought the collaborative Duetos Con La Clika EP. The eight-song 4-20-20 was also released, and it featured the hit "Soy Lo Que Soy" with guest appearances by and. Their follow-up album, L.A. Lumbre, featured 11 tracks and was released the following year. Singles "Reyes Magos" (with JOP) and "El Jeffrey" also appeared on the album.
Ramón Ruiz, the band's primary songwriter, main singer, and accordionist, formed the group in 2014 out of the remnants of several previous musical endeavors. They may be drug obsessed, but they are not a narcocorrido gang. Various marijuana strains, the evolving marijuana industry as more states legalize weed, and the high life are all topics of their music. They avoid discussing criminal organizations and individuals. The original "stoner corrido" band, Legado 7 are revered by true norteo lovers.
