L.A. Witch Information
L.A. Witch is an American garage-rock trio. The group's current lineup consists of Sade Sanchez, Irita Pai, and Ellie English. In 2011, the band was formed in Los Angeles, California. When asked to come up with a name, the band settled on their current moniker after realizing that their first pick, Witch, had already been taken. Ellie English took over as the band's drummer after Crystal Nava left for New York City and did not return.
Gun Club is one of the band's early influences; according to Sanchez, "That was one of our band's first connections established when we first met. Something about their mood attracted me — it's bluesy, twangy, kind of country, poetic and gothic."
Before releasing their self-titled first album in 2017, the band traveled extensively. The album was recorded at Hurley Studios in Costa Mesa and mixed in Highland Park, Los Angeles. In 2020, they published their second album, Play With Fire, followed by a rendition of the Gun Club's Ghost on the Highway. The band goes on many tours in the United States and abroad.
