Kin Faux is an American band that originated from San Antonio, Texas. The group consists of four talented musicians, Rico Gonzalez (fiddle, keys, guitar, vocals), RB Suave (bass, vocals), Jakey Black IX (guitars, vocals), and Dan Currier (drums). The mission behind this band is to put "western" back in country music; as such, the music style of Kin Faux is defined as Country Western. The group members pay tribute to country legends such as Haggard, Jennings, and Cash. Also, the heavy influence of the band comes from today's Texas music scene, such as Kevin Fowler, Cody Jinks, Randy Rogers, and Wade Bowen.
Watching Kin Faux live is a whole new experience. What audiences experience at a "Kin Faux" show is a solid rhythm section that flawlessly provides a foundation for fantastic guitar and fiddle solos. The band is not associated with a record label and works independently. Kin Faux has played many of the iconic Texas Saloons, and Dance Halls, such as Luckenbach, 151 Saloon, Fifi DuBois, John T. Floores, and Gruene Hall.
Kin Faux won the 2017 Review Magazine's Best Country Band of the Year and Best Country Instrumentalist of the Year awards.
