Josh Rouse Information
Josh Rouse (March 9, 1972) is an American folk-pop singer and songwriter. He was born in Oshkosh, Nebraska, and moved around to various places while he was a child. This includes moving to Georgia, Wyoming, California, and Utah. At 18, Rouse began writing songs and followed his nomadic childhood. To attend college, he moved to Clarksville, Tennessee, and, during his college time, he met some local musicians and began recording with them.
Rouse’s debut project was an initial recording that he put to tape and released. It was named “Dressed Up Like Nebraska” and came out in 1998. The debut received critical acclaim from diverse music writers. Per Billboard, it was a dark-horse gem. After this success, Rouse collaborated with Kurt Wagner on an EP, the next year of his debut release. He toured in support of some well-known artists, including Vic Chesnutt, Aimee Mann, and Mark Eitzel.
Rouse released his second full-length studio album in 2000 entitled “Home.” In 2002, he released another album named Under Cold Blue Stars. He began his working relationship with producer Brad Jones on his fourth studio album entitled “1972” (2003). One of the soundtracks from the album Home entitled “Directions” was used as the film’s soundtrack by Cameron Crowe named “Vanilla Sky.”
Josh Rouse has worked with different record labels throughout his career, such as Yep Roc Records, Bedroom Classics, Rykodisc, and Nettwerk Records. Some of his other studio albums are Nashville (2005), Subtitulo (2006), and Country Mouse City House (2007).
