Jane Birkin OBE (December 14, 1964), has a full name, “Jane Mallory Birkin.” She is an English singer, artist, actress, model, and songwriter. Birkin is the daughter to Judy Campbell and David Birkin. Swinging London (1960s) was the emerging project for Birkin. Working for international projects, Birkin gained worldwide fame as well as extreme notability due to her long romantic partnership with Serge Gainsbourg along with her decade-long music.
At the beginning of her career, she had roles in “Blowup” and “Kaleidoscope” counterculture era films. She also performed in the film Slogan in 1969, where she acted beside Serge Gainsbourg in the theme song "La Chanson de Slogan." Following this project, she attained a notable career working as an actress in French and British cinema.
Jane Birkin and Serge Gainsbourg released their debut album as a due in 1969 named Jane Birkin/Serge Gainsbourg. They also appeared in Je time Moi nonplus (1976), which is said to be a controversial movie. Birkin also worked in Death on the Nile (1978) along with Evil Under the Sun (1982), films by Agatha Christie.
Birkin got separated from Serge Gainsbourg in 1980 but continued her career as a singer and an actress. Some of the notable studio and live albums by Birkin are Di doo dah; Lolita goes home, Baby alone in Babylone, Fictions, Birkin/Gainsbourg: Symphonique, Integral an l'Olympia, Au palace (live), and many more.
She also appeared in films including The Knack ...and How to Get It, Trop jolies pour être honnêtes, Private Screening, Bons baisers de Tarzan (TV Film), Nobody's Daughter Haewon, Deadly Seasons: Blue Catacomb, La Femme et le TGV (short film), and many more.
Birkin was awarded “OBE” in 2001 along with French Ordre National du Mérite. At Orleans Film Festival (1985), she won the award for "Best Actress" for the film Leave All Fair. Birkin was also awarded the Japanese Order of the Rising Sun in 2018.
