Into It. Over It. Information
Cherry Hill, New Jersey, was Evan Weiss's childhood home. In the seventh grade, while perusing a record store, he was exposed to emo for the first time when he heard the band Sunny Day Real Estate. He kept up his enthusiasm for music by attending gigs in Philadelphia and purchasing albums on Jade Tree and Polyvinyl. Weiss and his classmates formed the band J.A.R. when he was in fourth or fifth grade; the group renamed itself The Progress and achieved some regional recognition.
Before disbanding in 2008, The Progress released a full-length album and two EPs. After that, The Progress occasionally joined to play random live gigs. Unfortunately for Weiss, he could not persuade his comrades to commit to the band full-time. Weiss launched a solo effort titled Into It. Over It. His first two albums were also his most experimental: 52 Weeks and Twelve Towns. The songs for 52 Weeks were written, recorded, and published weekly for over a year before being put together as a compilation album.
Each song on the Six Splits compilation titled "Twelve Towns" was named after a different city. Bled Fest hosted Into It. Over It. in May of 2011. On Topshelf Records, the band dropped a split EP with Castevet called Snack Town. Release dates for the 7" vinyl and digital editions were July 28 and August 14, 2010, respectively. From June 29 to July 4, 2010, Into It. Over It. and Castevet performed together at six different venues.
