Ingrid Michaelson Information
Ingrid Ellen Michaelson (December 8, 1979) is an American actress, singer, and songwriter, born in New York City. With the Binghamtonics, a co-ed vocal group, the Pappy Parker Players comedy troupe, and Sue Peters' theatre repertory company while attending Binghamton University, she was involved in a wide range of extracurricular activities. She sings about her time at Binghamton in her song "The Hat."
Several years later, Michaelson released her second studio album, Girls and Boys, in 2006. Grey's Anatomy's music producer stumbled into her song on the internet. Several record companies began to contact Michaelson after the music producer contacted him. Original Signal Recordings agreed to be Michaelson's label's marketing and distribution arm in exchange for all of the rights she possessed as an independent artist.
The compilation album Be OK was released by Michaelson in 2008. On the Billboard charts, it debuted at number 35 with mixed to good reviews. The single "Be OK" was featured on several television shows and ads, making it a big draw for the album. Singer-songwriter Kelly Clarkson joined the Hotel Cafe Tour in support of her record, which raised money for cancer research, in the fall of 2013. Everybody, Michaelson's fourth studio album, was released in 2009.
