Hey Violet Information
Rena Lovelis, Nia Lovelis, and Casey Moreta make up the American pop rock trio Hey Violet, based in Los Angeles, California (lead and rhythm guitar, backing vocals).
In 2008, when its members were still in middle school, the band was formed as Cherri Bomb; at the time, it was comprised of four women: Julia Pierce (lead vocals, lead guitar), Miranda Miller (rhythm guitar, keyboards, backing vocals), Rena Lovelis (bass, backing vocals), and Nia Lovelis (backing vocals) (drums, percussion, backing vocals). Pierce departed the band in 2013, and Casey Moreta eventually took his place. The group's name was changed to Hey Violet in 2015, and their style was overhauled simultaneously. Soon after, they joined Hi or Hey Records, the label started by 5 Seconds of Summer, whom they toured with on the Rock Out with Your Socks Out and Sounds Live Feels Live tours.
Although he has been a band member since September 2016, Iain Shipp (bass, keyboards) departed in 2019. Miller posted on social media in August 2017 that she was leaving the ensemble. The genres of pop punk, pop, electronic dance music, pop rock, and electropop have all been used to characterize Hey Violet's sound. Rena has referenced various influential female artists, including Alanis Morissette, Amy Winehouse, Hayley Williams, Janis Joplin, and Kate Bush.
