The Groove Centric is an American band founded in 2008 and originated from Atlanta, GA. The group's current lineup consists of Donnie D-Major Boynton on Keys, Joel Powell on bass, Mike Jones on sax, and Brien Andrews on drums. Groove Centric is praised for taking the fans on a ride that starts from Jill Scott's smooth sounds, a transition to sounds reminiscent of a classic Miles Davis tune, and leaves the audience with head-bopping funk like that of Earth Wind and Fire.
The Groove Centric is known as a trendsetting group that plays all around the city at different venues such as City Winery, St. James Live, Churchill Grounds, The Velvet Note, The Vista Room, and Sweet Georgia's Juke Joint. The band has also performed to massive audiences in surrounding cities, including The Perfect Note, The House of Blues, Blues Boulevard, Good Times Jazz Restaurant, Chayz Lounge, and Savoy Restaurant. Groove Centric has expanded its musical reach with the help of melodic entertainment provided at several corporate events.
The group members have played with many famous artists such as Mandisa, Jennifer Holliday, Mike Phillips, Monica, Malcolm Jamal-Warner, Jimmy Heath, India Arie, Jeff Lorber, Musiq Soulchild, Oliver Lake, Mighty Blues Kings, Sonny Emory, and Al Green.
The band was invited to headline notable festivals such as Soca Wine and Jazz Festival, the Gwinnett Music Festival, and Jonesboro Food Truck and Music Festival. Crossing Bridges was the debut album by Groove Centric.
